Loved your model. I live in Largo Florida. There is a place called Crystal River that would be a perfect place to test your model. The river leads to the Gulf of Mexico. The water there is crystal clear even as deep as 30 feet. You could get some real cool video of your craft going into one of the open water caves at Crystal River. There are a lot of Manatees that live in the river also. Who knows, you might get a shot of your sub being inspected by curious Manatees? Maybe you should think about a road trip to Florida. If you opt to come our way please stop in and see me. I also love SolidWorks. I love modeling things. I am currently working on a medical chair for spinal patients as well as a re-design of a 3d printer.

Thanks Paul,
It is fun! I don't know how deep it can go yet. I am driving it with a 5.8GHz FPV video system from my rc planes. However, 5.8GHz will not penetrate water, so I use a float towed behind with a tether. The transmitter is in the float. So, at the moment I am limited by the 10ft tether. Next summer I plan to try snorkeling with it without the camera and then we will see some deeper runs. Also, I may try some longer tethers. The problem is water clarity... Northern Wisconsin lakes really aren't that clear, and right now they are solid. I am using (*cough* rc aircraft only) 72Mhz for the control and so far I have not reached the limits of it underwater. The actually limits are going to be the control frequency penetration limit, and the ability for the seals on the motor shaft and control fins to keep out the water.

Thanks again!

Daniel, this is fantastic. You earned my vote. Not only is your CAD and Rendering fantastic, showing us that you took the time, you built it. Sweet little Rc. Question - how deep can it go?
