Nemo Gould’s latest piece appears to be a Shark from a distance. Closer inspection reveals it to be a vessel, part submarine, part spaceship, teeming with the activity of its crew working at their respective tasks.
I'm sorry, but as a Mechanical Engineer, I simply don't understand what the purpose of something like this is?!
I hate to be negative and I'm all for creativity but this display is nothing more than pie-in-the-sky. The propellers would need to be much bigger to drive something of this proportion (relative to the propellers) and the power needed to drive a tail-type of motion is practically astronomical; not to mention how it would impact the stability of he rest of the submarine! Overcoming the frictional resistance of water is NOT comparable to overcoming the frictional resistance of air AT ALL!
This display has no no practical merit whatsoever - not even as a concept. Epic Fail (IMO).
